The main factors are boiler type and efficiency, the size needed for your home's heat loss, venting and condensate drain work, any piping changes, and whether the old system needs cleaning or water treatment. A written estimate after an in-home evaluation gives you the real number.

Are there rebates for a high-efficiency boiler in 2026?

CenterPoint Energy lists 2026 rebates for qualifying Minnesota customers who install condensing boilers rated 91% AFUE or higher, with applications due by December 31, 2026. The federal Section 25C tax credit does not apply to equipment installed after December 31, 2025.

How do you decide what size boiler I need?

The boiler should be sized from a heat loss calculation for your home, not from the rating on the old boiler. Your radiators or baseboard also affect which boiler and settings will work best.
