Common questions

How often should my boiler be serviced?

Once a year. The EPA recommends annual professional inspection, cleaning and tune-up of central heating systems, including flues and chimneys.

What is included in a boiler tune-up?

A technician inspects the venting, tests for carbon monoxide, checks gas or oil connections and combustion, inspects the heat exchanger, and tests safety controls. Hot-water and steam systems also get system-specific checks such as the relief valve, expansion tank or low-water cutoff.

When should I schedule boiler maintenance?

Late summer or early fall works best, before the heating season starts. That leaves time to complete any repairs before cold weather.
